Horse Show

1 of 2

An equestrian drill team is a group of horses and riders performing choreographed maneuvers to music. Drill teams are intended to entertain, show sportsmanship, horsemanship, team work and dedication. Competition drill at the national level is a controlled ride and has continuous forward motion. Competitions provide for novice, rodeo, youth, gaits and special effects such as theme and drama. Theme drill provides a division that allows teams to showcase their uniforms, horse ability, music, and inclusions of trick riding or other variations.

Drill Team is a lot of fun! It's a great way for riders to get to know each other and their horses. It's a lot of fun to learn how to work together as a group, as a team, and learn to maneuver horses in ways you never thought possible. Working together in unison to create a pattern that amazes and awes those watching is an incredible feeling!!

Equestrian Drill Team is a fast-paced Team oriented sport where as few as (4) and as many as (20) riders ride on together. Teams execute a pattern and are judged on:
  • Execution
  • Variety
  • Uniqueness
  • Horsemanship
  • Overall Appearance
With many hours dedicated to practice, fund raising and horse care, this is the only equestrian sport where you have to have complete faith in the rest of your Teammates, as you execute the drill at break neck speeds!
